You’re one ugly mother….. One of the many amazing aspects of my job is the nostalgia and nod to my childhood dreams of working on some of my all time favourite franchises. I remember seeing Predator when I was 8 years old. All the boys in primary school were talking about it and after much demanding, my father caved and rented it from the video store. I was so excited!! I remember popping the brick like cassette into the VHS player 📼 and it start playing right on the point where the Predator drops his mask and roars, revealing one of the most beautiful faces I’ve ever seen.😍 I hit the stop button, squealed with joy and rewound the tape. Ducking behind a cushion at times and watching for the first time what will always be in my top 5 Movies of all time.⭐️ Arnold in his prime and Stan Winston working his absolute magic. This WIP is from the centre section of a much bigger design. More reveals coming soon! Have an amazing weekend all! 💙www.christopherlovell.com/shop

Hope you all had an awesome Halloween! Weirdly pumpkin carving is something I have no memory of ever doing, even in my childhood. I think I was always too busy making costumes at Halloween to be bothered with pumpkins. After seeing some amazing photos over the years of pumpkins carved as if they were wood, I decided to give it a go. I didn’t really know what to expect so I just got stuck in and hoped for the best. It took me about two hours to complete and I fortunately had some old lino cutting tools my father brought back from China about 20 years ago! They were pretty good to carve with along with some kitchen knives.
Hope you enjoy the vid and thanks so much for all your kind words and support!
Welcome to my latest tutorial / process video! This month I have been partaking in 'Inktober' where artists aim to try and do a simple drawing every day for the month of October. After completing a few drawings, I thought I would film the full process of my ‘Webstor’ from 'Masters Of The Universe' piece and some bonus footage of ‘Alien’ from the 1979 Sci Fi movie masterpiece. To try and keep these images simple and fast to execute I have been using strong shadows and highlights to my advantage. Doing this really inspired me to make a tutorial video to show you in detail the techniques I employ and tools I use. I call this a ‘less is more’ way of working as you can create very dynamic and powerful images, yet keep things simple and fool the eye into seeing more than is actually there. This is quite a long video and I hope you enjoy it! Please SUBSCRIBE, hit that thumbs up and hit me up with any questions in the comment section.
